I haven't checked on BMWs specifically, but a good friend of mine is a locksmith and they can provide keys for most vehicles including brand new cars with the security chip in the key. Not every locksmith has invested in the technology to do this, but a really good locksmith would be worth a try. Ask your bank who handles their locks and start there.
Im very familiar with GS, I bought my car there I have taken it in for service a couple of times and they are always great... A husband and wife own it, they are really cool people...

You don't need the Dealer to program your key for you, look on your manual you can do it yourself. As far as the key goes, the only place to get it is from the dealer. I paid about $130. for mine in NY.
