After many years of wanting a BMW I finally went and bought one. I picked up a 1985 318i 5 speed. It is in amazingly nice conditon. Now the questions. Where is the best place to buy parts (stock and performance). What can be done to the car to make it a little quicker? Are there any websites that have info on the 318i? where can I find the specs on it such as suspension,horsepower etc..

For parts check out vertex automotive. (www.vertexauto.com) I have spent lots of money with them because they are the cheapest, even including shipping. Give it a look. And have fun with your car. They are tons of fun to drive!
the 84 and 85 318i don't have a timing belt. they havea timing chain, and i hear they last forever. But doesn't hurt to change it.
