Hey everyone...

I just bought a replacement rack and pinion for my e-30, the one that i bought is from a 1994 325is... I was told that this rack will fit in my 89 325is, i was wondering if anyone can tell me if this is really true beacuse it does not look like it will work to me, and if so, what mods will i have to do to make it fit... thanks a lot :)

i put them side by side and the tie rods are almost exactly the same lenth... the thing that i am worried about is that the neck on the rack is angled differently than the stock one, and i dont know if the steering gear will fit on correctly...

I don't see that as a huge problem, might just have to modify the colum.

They are different part numbers, therefore I would NOT use the one for an e36. Try Pelican Parts as they list them and if you call they will tell you the truth.
It's possible, and easy to convert -- but requires modifiying something. I know it can be modified easily, cheaply, and reliably -- but I can not for the life of me think of what it is exactly that you have to modify.

I know it's possible though becuase I was looking for a rack a few weeks ago and just found someone on ebay selling a new one for $150... he didn't know what he had on his hands!!
