These pics are recent, but soon to have some changes. Just stripped the old nasty purple tint in favor of 30% all around including the windshield. Also having Magnaflow exhaust and x pipe done, new M5 lip spoiler getting painted, new tail lights, and soon to be lowered along with some Umnitza headlights with HID. Just got my wheels on, Axis Penta, 20x9/20x10, Kumho SPT rubber. Plenty more plans in the future, just not enough money!

Real nice. Pardon my ignorance, but I've not kept up as well as i should with the newer models. Is the 540i6 and 6 cylinder? If not, what does the i6 signify?

Welcome, DSkeet! It's a small world, isn't it?

slickbrave: 540i is a 4.4 V8, the "6" is for 6-speed.
It probably wouldn't be as confusing if it was written "540i/6"

hehe, or 540i 6sp or something

btw, welcome aboard. i remember reading about the 540i 6speed when they first came out and was just salivating at the words. it was the fastest production sedan at the time! iirc they mentioned a touchy clutch or something, but before i was big into bimmers, 540i turned me on to it.

i love the e39s altho i really like the e60s, if given the choice, i'm not sure what i'll take.. well save for the e60 m5 [:D]

congrats on the purchase, and enjoy!!

Welcome aboard - thats a great looking car. I'd have to say the e39 are my favorites. I'm going to have to post some pictures of my own one of these days. Congrats again, nice wheels

My car is not nearly as beautiful now as Skeet's but it is a 540 with a 6 speed and dates all the way back to 1995. I bouht it within the last year and it was advertised as a 5-speed. When I started my research, I discovered it was a 6 and was shocked for that year model. With almost 180K miles on it, it's still tight and a total blast to drive.

Thanks for all the comments! Here are my previous 2 rides, the Mustang being the latest one. Totaled it about 4 months ago and started my search for another Bimmer. Always liked the e39 540i so I searched until I found the right one! My Mustang was Procharged and intercooled at 10 psi and laid down 460 hp. It was a beast and I miss it dearly! The E36 had a ACS kit, wing, sport mirrors, suspension, woodgrain etc. Similar wheels to what I have on my e39, Axis Supermesh 19 inch.

Congrats...you're going to love it.

Great car and nice wheels although I think 20s look way too big for a 5er. I have old school 17s so that's prob why.
