We are expecting our X3 3.0 to arrive soon (replacing the 2002 325i). It will be silver grey with terracotta leather, premium package, premium sound, xenon, DVD in the headrests for our kid. The dealer said it will arrive in early December so it could be any day now. It will be my wife's car--I'm not parting with my 2002 530i.

Has anybody noticed any problems with the X3 that I should look out for when the car arrives?

We will miss the 325 but it was getting too small for our family.

Great car, you will love it. Winter heating system is the best ever. My window wipers are for the birds, don't clean properly, and judder across the window on the return stroke. Otherwise you will be happy with your choice. The radio and speakers produces very good sound but the arial in the back window is a mistake in my opinion, it loses reception far too early. Never happened with the old whip antena. Good riding, Chuck Abbott

chuck abottt, have you taken your car into the dealership regarding the wiper juddering? The dealership should be able to take care of that for you.

I agree...the wipers do suck!

[mad]

I've noticed that too about the wipers of my X3. They leave constant streaks and they are the worst when it comes to misty rain. I hate them. I've wiped them down to see if there was any residue on the blades but that doesn’t work. I noticed the rear wiper is of poor quality too. I live in the East Coast and the weather has been getting bad so I do plan on getting the blades replaced. The one thing I cannot stand is when the wipers judder across the window on the return stroke.

So to answer your questions, I think that it’s a known issue with the X3s. I’ve test driven the X5, 325i, and Z4 (all in the rain) and I don’t recall the quality of the blades being as bad as the ones on the X3.

Hope this helps a little.

MrElussive, if the dealership was just around the corner I would have taken it there. Unfortunately I am some 170 miles from them. So I have to fend for myself with the small things, and will have done two oil changes at 5 and 10K before going in for the first factory change at 15K. Did resolve the front wipers at my local NAPA store. Regards Chuck Abbott
