I don't think so... you shouldn't have a catalytic either... You'd be well off following you exhaust system from the manifold back and see if you have one. I don't think you do though.

yeah i know that this model didnt have a cat, but was puzzeled when i saw this : http://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/techarticles/E30-O2_Sensor/E30-O2_Sensor.htm
The 1984-91 E30 3 Series has the o2 sensor :S ive checked the whole way along the exit pipe and there isnt one on my car.
I want to connect a fuel mixture display, however i obviously have no o2 sensor, if i installed an aftermarket one, just after the headers (not in the headers) would it still work properly?

Cheers for the reply Scotty

Well, the guy who wrote the article in Pelican Parts is more than likely american, and is pretty much basing the article around a 325is. Americans (North America) never had the 323i. Yes, they obviously had the 325i which is a M20 just like the 323i is a M20, but I don't think emission standards were the same in 1984 in Australia as they were in USA/Canada. I'm certain you don't have a Cat or O2 sensor, and if you want to install an airflow meter, you certainly could, however I don't think you would have the option of adjusting the fuel mixture. Esentailly there would be no point. I'm not familiar with the 323i at all as far as how the electronics works, but unless you're racing, you shouldn't need a Fuel/air mixture gauge.
