Following the instructions on http://www.bmwe34.net/e34main/upgrade/OBC.htm I have attempted to replace the digital clock/ temp display in my 1992 525i with a full OBC. Like the instructions suggest, I found no power at pin 17 when I could not get the computer to come up at first, so I joined the wire coming from pin 17 to the wire leading to pin 9 as instructed. I now have 12V at pins 6, 8, 9, and 17. I know my ground is good on the connector because thats what I used to check for power at the other pins. Despite this, my computer still refuses to turn on. To see if I may have purchased a faulty computer, i decided to try the one in my brother's car (same year/model), which i know to be operational, but got nothing. To make things worse, after re-installing the OBC in my brothers car, his is now playing dead! WHOOPS. What have i done? Is there some sort of trick to make these fire up after they're disconnected?! PLEASE HELP

You may have a short in your OBC wiring. What you should have done was test yours in his car to see the results. Open your OBC and see if it burned out any capacitors. Remove your brother's OB and test the voltage at his pins while the car is on and off and that may help you identify the short in your system. I hope this helps.
