I took my 1987 325i for a cruise in heavy rain last Sunday it ran well untill i parked it in my garage and couldnt get it to start again. On investigation i found out that the ecu had about a quarter of a pint of water trapped in it shorting the eletronics inside i immediately got to work firstly i drilled out the rivet and loosened the heat on one of the covers and exposed the whole board i borrowed my girlfreinds hair dry and got to work demoisturising the components and tracks after 15 mins of this i put everything together and Vrooom was on the road again i then removed the ecu again and drilled three holes on the bottom cover for drain and as an added precaution i made up a raincoat for it using plastic i still cant figure out how the water is getting in. SO BEWARE.
