Instead of paying the $200 to have BMW change my oil, I am going to do it myself.

Can anyone post the exact steps they take when changing the oil ,and the location of the filter and the oil pan. I hate sounding like a noob, but this is my first M3 and I dont want to screw anything up.

Anywhere online I can buy that or should I just go to the local shop?
www.bavauto.com

Part Number 07 51 0 009 420
Price $9.95

You're going to need to buy 6 of these. The engine will take approximately 5.3-5.5 quarts.

1 liter = 1.057 quarts

Just an FYI~
If you order the entire oil change kit from bavauto, the oil filter may differ from the factory model. It's actually the filter for the 5 series (and some other models as well) and it does work for our cars.

^^Good info, thanks Gabe. [thumb]
No problem, I learned the hard way...
When I did my oil change on a Saturday, I freaked out when I pulled the filter. The filters are the same size but they do look different.

I had to wait unitl Monday to verify I had the correct part. [bash]

I'd like to buy the whole kit, but can't find it.
Sorry 'bout that. I bought each of the items individually. I guess, I built my own kit. [:o)]

Also, You' might want to invest in a set of rhino ramps. They're @ $20 at most auto-part stores and make the job a whole lot easier. [driving2]
