With all this talk about oil pans and such, it made me remember once i saw a post about how the stock oil cooler on most 6 cyl. (mine being a 89 325is) cars can be useless. Even more than useless but also can rob the engine of power and just do i bad job. Is this true or am i way off? If it is true, is there a way to remove it or upgrade the cooler?

Thanks Peyton [slap]

Nope. There is a valve that controls flow through the cooler - kind of like a thermostat. Oil only flow through the cooler when it gets way to hot. I would keep it in, if a bmw engineer wanted the car to have an oil cooler, I would probably keep it there. I don't see it robbing much power anyways. It's not restrictive, and basically passes the oil through the cooler, then the filter then to the head.... instead of when it's cold through the filter then the head.
