Hi,
I am have over heating issues with my 1992 325i. I replaced the head gasket, waterpump, radiator. Originally the car would overheat instantly before I did all the work on it, but now it takes awhile to reach half way but doesnt stop. Currently the t-stat is out, fan clutch is frozen, and seems to cool down once the car is past 1500rpm. Any clues??

No, you need to bleed the system, without doing that, it will overheat no matter what you do, unless it magically bleeds itself. You should get the fan clutch and thermostat too. A fan clutch is under 100 (OEM on ebay, not the dealer) and a thermostat is under 30 bucks, you can replace both in under an hour, after which you will have to fill and bleed the system. If your electric fan is working fine, then you can get away with not replacing any of those (maybe not on very hot days), but it will take longer to get up to temperature and you WILL have to bleed the system, there is no way around it. Bleeding the cooling system can be a pain in the behind on an M50 though, so good luck. Hope you get it to stop overheating.

Tried Bleeding

I bleed the coolant system as instructed by on the 320 network, but.... Still overheats. Under closer inspection I hear a smal thumping sound coming from my water pump every 5seconds. So I think I have a defective water pump? Right??

its not out of the question...... take it back and get another one. i know its easier said than done, but that could solve the problem.
