When you hit the brakes hard in a car equipped with ABS you most definitely should not get shudders through the steering-wheel. All you should get is a pulsating feeling through the brake pedal itself as the ABS is engaged.

Warped rotors or pads that haven't seated into the rotor properly might cause some vibration under braking or at certain speeds (most likely between 90-100km/h). Even though you just had the brakes done doesn't mean they're straight. You say you braked hard: how long after you'd had new rotors and pads installed was this? If you didn't give them enough time to bed in then you may well have damaged them... Other than that, it could be some worn bushings in the front suspension or some kind of suspension issue along those lines.

Even our GM cars' steering wheel doesn't shudder with ABS kicking in. Just the pedal feels weird. Chesty has it right on the money. Your rotors are warped or your control arm/thrust arm bushings are bad. There's not doubt that they could have installed warped rotors, it happens a lot. You have the problem right after the repairs or was it there before?

LOL thanks homeless, geesh you foreigners must think american's are VERY stupid. (Yes we also picked up on "colour", the funky way english say aluminum, etc.)

Anyways, not mentioning that you also replaced tires is like going to the doctor because your nut hair is falling out but not telling him you swallowed uranium-235 because your college buddies bet you wouldn't. [rofl]

Anyways, the wobbling is most likely an unbalanced wheel or bad tire. (Of course, warped rotors is still a possibility.)

We have to admit that the English language originated from England.
The Americans were the ones who modified the spellings of words.
The English speak with a funny accent...
but that was how it was originally meant to be spoken!
The Americans, and the rest of the world, are the ones speaking with an unoriginal accent!

OOPS!...you may start flaming me now... [cheers]

Anywaaaay...back on topic that steering wheel shudder is not so easy to diagnose with what we have to go on....i mean how MUCH did it shudder....if it was not to violent but noticeable might be a bad tire(tyre?) or rotors...i changed my brake pads a while back and i then had to go get my tires realigned and the shudder went away....
