problems with my '92 525i's stereo / security system (fixed)

i bought my '92 525i about a week ago.. the only other cars i've previously owned were volvos (yes, i'm very happy about the transition). anyhow, owning volvos gets you lazy.. being it's impossible to leave the lights on (one you lock everything up, the car shuts them off) a few days ago i found out that that's not the case with bmws.. i woke up and my battery was dead. anyhow, my factory headunit has been asking for a code ever since... i read through my manuals and found a code, but after trying to input it multiple times, i've come to the conclusion that the code has since been changed. which leads me to my question.. is there a way for me to reset the code and if so, how?
thanks for the help in advance.

I do not think the codes can be changed. If you have the correct code just turn the ignition/on for one hour and the security feature will reset itself and will accept the coreect code. Check with your nearest dealer to re-check your code first, for that you need to take out your radio. I worked on my '93 525i.
About dead battery, the only solution for me so far is not to let the car sit unattended for more than a week.
