Sometimes they just need a chance.
So it has been a sad and happy day at work today. About 4 years ago I received a call regarding a girl with a challenging past that needed a job. I hired her and helped her get her life together, as did others in the company. She had been seriously abused by her parents and had been homeless for a couple of years, had no skills, and no money.
There were some challenges in the beginning to say the least, but within a year she became one of our most valuable assets. She now drives a very nice car and lives a stable life. Today was her last day as she moves on to a better position with a company that offers greater potential. A good day and a sad day for those of us that tried to help her shape her life and by far one of the most rewarding things I have done in my life.
