Hey peoples.
I am now the extremely pleased new owner of a late 88 320i. So far it has been nothing but "Sheer Driving Pleasure", and i look forward to many more years of it!!!

Just a few questions:

The car has been sitting there for a few months before i bought it, i think it may need a bit of a tune up. She stills goes great and is quite responsive, there is just a bit of a flat spot at about 1200-1300rpm, and it's not 100% smooth the whole way through the rev range. I've never owned an efi car before, so i don't really know where to start, or if i can actually do much in that regard, or does it have to been done by someone who really knows what they are doing and has the gear (e.g diagnostics stuff).
I used to do all the work on my old car. However it was a diesel, so this side of things is pretty new to me.

Any other advice on things i should look at and make sure is all good. The car is in really good nick. Which is why i was so keen to get it, i've had my eye on it for a few months now, and driven 4 other e30's since seeing this one, and none of them came close.

Is there a workshop manual for these cars that is recommended, i'd really like to get one, but not sure where to look or what for.
Also what oil is best of these cars????

Cheers

hey. do you have the small 6-cylinder engine?

I think the usual applies... all the usual tune up items...

9.5 mm magnecor wires and new ignition coils, btw, make a big difference (I never would have believed it). Make sure you use new STOCK plugs...

if you have the small 6 engine, make sure you do your timing belt every 60,000 miles

congrats man!! post pics!

thanks fella's

yeah it's the small 6. the 2litre
goes pretty well. although i'd like to get a bit more out of it.
i'm also thinking of lowering her just a little and replacing the 14" wheels with some 16s or at least 15's.

By the way...
Are there many ozzies on this forum?
