Hello everyone,

I currently own a 1997 528i 5speed manual which is in really good condition. The car has 175k miles which I know is a lot, but the car still running nice and smooth. I had the opportunity of buying a 3.2 m3 engine (1998) to be exact and the whole suspension upgrade including the differential. I bought this engine with plans to do the swap to my 5 series, but I feel that it's not worth messing around with the 5 when it's still running perfectly fine with no problems other than very high mileage.

Anyways, my brother-in-law hooked me up with a 1993 325i 5speed manual transmission. When I said he hooked me up, I’m talking about he gave me the car for free :) lucky me right!

The car is in good condition other than missing a couple of parts like the hood, the rear bumper and it has some ugly seats.... The plan now is to restore this e36 and hook it up for racing purpose only while leaving the e39 to chill with the family. Since the car didn't cost me a penny and I already have the M3 engine and suspension, I'd like to put all of those M parts to the 325I and make it a nice sleeper.

Question now is:

What do you guys think about all this?
How hard would it be to swap the engine from the 1993 325i and replace it with the 1998 M3 3.2 engine?
What would I need to accomplish this upgrade and what would be the best thing to do to get the most out of it? Please keep in mind that I have barely spent any money on the M parts and got the car for free basically.

I would really appreciate any help out there.

Thanks in advance everyone,

Dannye
