mine also just says 325 and thats exactly what it is. wheres the redline on the tachometer? also there should be a sticker on the driver door thatll either say 325e, 325i or 325 (i think)
The 325 (no letter) is what I believe is referred to as an "super eta". This model has some of the top end (head) of the i engine while keeping the lower end 2.7 liter bottom end of the e engine.
I also have an '87 that just has 325 on the trunklid. It is not a supereta. Those were 1988, right? The sticker in the door jam says 325e. You've probably got a 325e, I just think they didn't put the e on the trunklid in '87.
Didn't the 'e' get dropped in 86? A relative had a 1986 325 (first stick I ever drove), while my 1985 has the 'e', and I always thought the only difference between the sneetches with 'e's and the sneetches without was the 'e' on the trunklid. :\
