Does the escort passport 8500 detect radar detectors? I live in Va now , and radar detectors are illegal. I notice something in the manuel about vg-2....but no explanations. Any one else live in states where they radar detectors are illegal? if so....any suggestions on how to use the detector w/o getting caught with it.

I have the 8500. It picks up alarms, radar detectors and even nothing! I shut X-band off since thats rarely used anymore, and K and Ka go off all the time. Usually you can tell from the sound pattern if it's a cop or a false alarm. But for some reason, I do get a fair amount of false alarms.

It's legal in my state, so not sure how to use it without getting caught. I did mount it up high next to my rearview mirror, and powered it from the Homelink power source. Worked very well, and it's very discreet.
