Radio Malfunction

My radio on my 91 325i works but theres no sound and i've checked all the settings on the radio. I cranked the volume knob all the way up and got a slight crackle noise out of the speakers. I hope its a bad connection and not a bad head unit. Can anyone give me any advice or help on this problem.

I think you can get your head unit repaired for a flat fee of $100 or so from the dealer. Problem could be in the amplifier. I have a head unit from a 91 325iC if you want to buy it and pay for shipping.

Have you tried pulling the unit out of the dash and looking at the connections on the back? Take a little screwdriver and jam it in the allen like screw heads on the sides of the unit and unscrew. Should come out okay after that. If you lose power to the unit you need the code to reset.
