Rearview crud

I don't know if I am alone in this, but does anybody elses rearview mirror have this dried up, almost advesive like stuff coming out of the sides where the glass meets the plastic? I noticed it in my other E30 too...I cosidered trying a razor to take it off, or even some vinegar or something. Anybody else notice this?

My e30 has it. I have never tried to remove it.

Yeah, mine did and I took a razor blade to cut it off, then got some "Goof Off" to clean the residue off the mirror

Good call equate, I just happened to find a bottle of goof off at work and took a razor and bent paper clip to the mirror. Looks great! That cleaner works pretty damn well on anything.

just scrape the stuff off that what i did the first day i got the car. that stuff is just ugly.

I did the same as equate and it works well. I had that on my first E30 (1985) as well as my 1989 E30. It is apparently a common thing.

it seems we've finally found a fault in the E30 =) i just used a screwdriver and chipped away at it. it isn't perfect though. only my passengers notice.
