I just got back from a 971 mile run to KY from Washington, DC. At a smooth average of 75 to 78 MPH my wife and I got 25.5 MPG from the rooster. It cost me 97.00 bucks with a 1/2 tank left over.[rofl]

Bad News, I lost my temp sender under the front bumper.[mad] Some how it fell off. I've got the female end of the connecter wire and I've looked through my Bentley 3 series Service Manual and can't find squat about the tempature sending unit to the computer??? [xx(]

I've got one ordered from Bavarian Autoparts. However it would be nice to see what it looks like prior to installing ....anyone got a clue where I can find some install info? I can't even really determine where it goes. There is a black plastic clip under the front valance to the right of the drivers fog light. I assume it gets placed in the plastic holder and the female portion of the wiring gets pluged in???[confused]

Anywho, in about two weeks the following gets installed; new front seats (camel leather/stock), new lights for heater trim pannel, new ashtray, new cig lighter, new carpet, new fog lights(cracked), new angel eyes headlights. I just installed new roundels front and rear, as well as new wheel caps and logos.

Man I love this car!!! I'm getting 22 MPG around town and I checked it at 65 on ghe highway she is pulling 32 MPG. This is my new fly fishing car. Too bad its not 4 X4 for bow deer season.

I'll post pics once I'm done with all the part installs.

Great!

I presume you filled up somewhere. 971 miles to half a tank is an impossibility.

That same trip would have cost me $311 (based on your acheived gas mileage, and the cost of fuel here). Which is over double what it cost you on the exchange rate.

You sure you did the maths correct??

25.5 miles per gallon = 38.08 gallons (971/25.5=38.08). According to www.washingtonDCgasprices.com the best price on gas in your area is around $4.10 per gallon. This would equal US$156 which is still a third less than it would have cost me, but at least the maths is correct.

Even ignoring the half tank you would have had to gotten it for $2.55 a gallon to only spend $97. Seeing as you are about 50% off, maybe you forgot to factor in the full tank you started with????

That aside, those mileage figures are good for a 325i. I can get that, but not with my driving style.

This is why we all love Graham!

Good to hear your e30 survived the trip, last time I took my e30 for a long drive the heater core shat, and the odo stopped working.

Ok,

I'm a tad off on the math. However, gas is or wasn't 4.10 a gallon. My highest cost was 4.03. I did find it several places as we traveled for 3.88 a gal. Yes, likely I did forget to add in the first tank.

All in all I was inpressed with the MPG. I could cut it even more if I dropped to 65 MPH. Like most of us I hate driving that slow.

I did get the temp sender back in and its working fine now. Yes I also need two new air vent ducts.

This car got hit somewhere during its life time. My last act of kindness will be to shore up all the body issues along with a new paint job. I do love the E30...just wish I could find a decent M3 to invest all this time and money in instead of 325 is.
