Anybody give me any instructions, socket sizes i'll need etc, tips, on how to swap my sunroof? I found a good condition sunroof at a scrap yard, but i have to remove it myself and install it into my car.

My car: 1988 BMW 325i 4dr

Thanks

open roof a quarter way and unclip trim pannel at the front being careful not to damage trim... or not. close sunroof and push panel back into roof.

remove mounting screws on each side (6 total), they appear to be hex head. remove and replace.

tighten mounting screws loosely. Insert pin (such as 4mm allen hex) on both sides into lifting channels. and adjust the sunroof to 1mm low in front and 1mm high in back and tighten mounting bolts.

slide trim forward, retract roof and clip in.

Ok so how about in a step by step order.

1) Open sunroof 1/4 way (open it so it angles UPward?)
2) Remove trim at front of sunroof, do not damage it
3) Close sunroof, and open it (so it slides into the roof and the sunroof is "open" ?)
4) Remove 6 hex head screws
5) Remove sunroof

REINSTALL

Opposite of removing, and adjust front 1mm low and rear 1mm high (so the is 1mm difference, or 2mm difference from front to back??)

Thanks

Thanks for the help guys, why the hell would i come to an internet forum if i wanted to buy a $70 manual?

I'm trying to do my dad a favour by grabbing a couple parts fromt he scrap yard, and im not spending $70 on a manual when my parts are only $70 themselves!

You remind me of the stereotypical BMW owner, stuck up richass that likes to piss me off. I won't be returning to these forums because of you. Would be great if i could get nice people like Stangnet to help me out with the beemer!

edit: There are a couple nice people around here, like froppo from my other post, but YOU are making everyone look like an ass.

oh... damn, sorry about that, really. i can be short with people sometimes and most of what i say has to be taken with a grain of salt. Didnt mean to scare you off... but its just that youd probably get a response like mine from any type of car forum because you ask something that you could easily figure out by going out to YOUR car and taking it appart.
again, sorry.

Ya, and i WOULD be doing that, but MY car is 200km away because my sister has it for the summer. I'm getting parts for it to swap at the end of the summer, otherwise i wouldn't be on here.

You could buy the manual and use it then give it to your father for father's day. Then maybe the next time he could do it himself. I know my father has no problem getting his hands dirty if he has a good manual to follow and he's in his late 70s.
