I've had an '89 325i for a few months now and I really like it. The manual however says nothing about how to reset the dash lights, namely the change oil one. So my oil is fresh but I still have to look at the light every time I drive. Getting annoying.
You either need to buy the reset tool, pay a dealer to do it or find one of the "wire jumping" links by googling it. There is a post in this section here somewhere on it. Try searching this site for the fix. Here is a link that may help BMW E30 Network
And, if you don't want to jump the wires yourself to reset it, just ask your BMW dealer to reset it for you. Mine will do it for free on these older cars.
