Hello there in BMW world..... I have a 99 523 can someone please explain how the rest button works as it is getting cold over here and I was under the impression that it saves heat and is then able to disperse the heat when the engine is turned off. Also everyone complains that my lights are kinda bright..could I have some advise on how to turn them down.

Thanks[driving]

If I remember right, the rest button recirculates air through the engine, using the residual heat and keeps the cabin warm.

As for the lights, I don't know if you can turn them down, but they may just be aimed too high. They are fairly easy to re-aim, or have the dealer do it.

It will recirculate the Heat from the Heater Core (I think) and keep the air blowing through the cabin for 20 minutes after the engine has shut down... nice if running in to a store for a few minutes, etc
