I have an 87 325is
When I fully depress the clutch pedal, to the floor, there is a clicking/rattleing sound that occurs. It clicks a couple times a second at idle and increases as I rev the engine.
When the pedal is let out just a little, not enough to meet the point of contact, it completly goes away.
Then once the clutch starts to engage to when it is fully engaged (clutch completely let out) it starts clicking again, but at this point it is barely noticable over the sound of the engine. (even at idle).

At first I thought it was adjusted wrong and was pushing the pressure plate release lever too far. But, my bentley manual only mentions what to do if it is not going far enough. [???1] what do I do. And what is causing that sound. Oh and is it causing serious damage?

I'm guessing that this is not a do-it-myself project
I couldn't find it in Bentley's

Blew apart [ohcrap]
I guess that means I probably shouldn't drive it until it gets fixed
What would a mechanic charge to replace it, assuming i couldn't do it myself,
I don't want to get screwed.

It's in bently... look at clutch replacement. You would be nuts to change just the bearing and not the entire clutch.
