Right turn accelerate.......rattle


Recently,i noticed that when i make a right turn and accelerate I can hear a rattle noise coming from under the rear of my E30.

It only happens when I make sudden/sharp right turn under acceleration......no problem with left turn or straight accleration.

Whats wrong?

bet cha 100 bucks that it's the exact same problem i had with my car... and NO ONE knew what it was

does it happen only between 2 and 3.5k rpm? (well, in an eta at least... so probably around 3.5-5 in an 'i')

let off the gas it goes away, right?

100 bucks (well not really ) says it's your catalytic converter HEAT SHEILD rattling... that's what it was on my car... and i swear it took me 3 months of off & on searching to find out what it was

if you grab it & it floats around a little, just yank it the fack outta there. if u need to lower your exhaust a little to get it out, remove the bracket that holds the exhaust to the rear of the trannie or something to loosten the exhuast up a little bit & drop it down... if u need to drop the exhaust down a little more, remove whatever else u can

don't worry bout the heat sheild not being there, there's another one that's attached to the bottom of the chassis & i haven't noticed a single thing that's different after i removed mine

(now i just have to get a new bracket to hold up the exhaust since i snapped the friggin bolt where it attaches to the exhaust & can't get it out for the life of me )

my friends shaft bearing (?!?) was worn out, so that was causing a rattle on acceleration.

Anyway the rattle was solved today....something loose/out of place caused the knocking when turning....phew!
