ok before i was thinking about when my car kicks the bucket i want a wrx or 00' 323, or a e36 m3. i ruled out m3 a while back bc its still gonna be like 5 years old when i get it. and then i ruled out 323. but now im coming back on and leaning on my first choice, the e36 m3.

i went to get an estimate on my replacing my headliner today and they guys like 350$ and me tryna get a discount im like, i dont wanna spend that much i dont think unless the price is good, im just a kid blah blah blah, i prolly wont keep this old car that long when he tells me: you should buy my m3, im sellin it. '95 m3, new ACS rims, badges, tires, front spoiler/bumper, side skirts, rear bumper, clear turn signals, custom suspension, new paint. 18,500. i told him a bit steep, i can get a 97/98 witha 3.2L for that and he tells me ya but it dont have teh upgrades mine does and the s50 is a much better motor in anycase.

well im not up for buyin a car now anyways, so his is useless to me. but which is the better motor?? i can get a 95 for like 13-14 and a 97 for 17. so whugh i havnt made my decision yet, im curious now, which is a btter motor???

S52 all the way, bro. In that other thread, I kept telling you that the E36 M3 is probably the best choice....do it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyways, isn't the S52 the 315hp/333hp motor which isn't available on the E36 M3 anyways?? Or is the S52 the 240hp I6???

well the s52 ran form 97-99 e36. it has aout 15 more hp in teh euro version but in teh US its just a bit more torquey.

supposedly s52 > s50 stock but s50 much more superior to mod. according to the mechanic, and since its his dads garage, hes been workin on BMW all his life so . . .

Well, the S52 motor is probably more power and better fuel economy. I would go with what's newer. [:)]
Seriously, though as long as you have that E36 M3 motor (S50 or S52), you will have a very moddable engine !! [:D]

ya probably. i am just curious, its most likely gonna come to which one i can get for better, i mean if i a can get 95 thats super clean for a good price and i like the color, ill prolyl go for it. but otherwise ill try for the newer one bc itll be atleast 2 years younger. but its not gonna be for a while in anycase.

don't get a bmw....the older they are the more they cost in repairs. if you are concerned about replacing a $350 headliner..then you are going to be very put out by any future repair billls.

S designates euro. however, i'd spring for the 3.2 big time. a friend of mine got the M52 and did an OBD-1 conversion to it, so 3.0l ecu, fuel rain, intake mani, cam, crank, and ping sensors, and wiring harness, and now his M52 is running 295bhp (cai and intake as well) but seriously, thats a lot of power. the 3.0l would be more difficult to mod because BMW gets the same horsepower out of two different sized engines, obviously the larger displacement motor would be not be working as hard therefore easier to mod safely.

hey hey.. just thought id bring back an old thread rather than start a new one..

so what your saying frolf, is if it came down to it get the s52 over the s50 what about the m50/52? are they worth modding?.. how do they respond to mods..
and are pre vanos engines stronger? (i dont really even know what vanos is.. some sort of intake cam thing..?)
anyway im looking at swaping one of the above mentioned engines into a e30 so

thanks

Oh? Gee someone should've told me that after I've been doing maintainence and repairs to my 1988 325is for the past 11 months...

I totally disagree. My friends e36 is much more costly to repair than my e30. I use all oem parts, and would never buy anything from autozone or advance auto parts (except that temperature sender I bought for a whole $17) [wiggle]

lol.. yeah i agree with you epj3.. my 83 or 85 e30s has never been expensive to maintane..

i wonder if it would be more costly if i had a newer engine in there..

............*still waiting for advice*............ [80?]
