Pretty terrible thing to happen. Whenever I drop my car off for service, I always specifically tell them, "Don't drive it, don't wash it !!"
They still might do it. A mercedes owner had just zainoed his car. Took his car in for service with specific instructions not to wash it. They even put a sign in the car to not wash it. Guess what? Yup, washed and washed badly... ruining hours of work as well as who knows how much in wasted Zaino products.

Yeah, I know. I have only taken my car in for service once, and I asked them not to wash it. They were very nice and listened to me exactly, and since I just needed an oil change, they didn't drive it either. They really should listen, though because Infiniti calls me every time I take my car in there, to rate the dealership.
But why would the Mercedes dealership washing the car, ruin the coats of Zaino??
I have Zaino on my car, but I tell them not to wash it only because I don't want to wait unnecessarily longer and they don't do such a good job.

I can't remember the story but I think the guy found streaks or scratches or something (it was obvious from his story and the SA agreed). Prolly used rough towels when they weren't supposed to or something. Doesn't surprise me. Drove by the local Auto Square on the way to the mall last week and the Chrysler workers were using towels that definitely were not microfiber (looked kinda like shop towels) to wash or dry the cars on the lot. Any worker that misses a huge sign saying "Do NOT wash me" inside the car prolly doesn't take the time to carefully wash a car either.

Hey sergemeister, I assume this was your car? I've read through the original thread. Can you give us a summarized update us on the status of the situation?

no updates from what I can read. Story was published in Roundell but "SC", whoever he is, didn't post the name of the dealer and blasted the poor owner of the M3 for going to Porsche instead of going to another dealer (ignoring the fact that there might not be another good dealer close to him). I can relate. I have to drive about 20 minutes to the nearest dealers that have a good service reputation. I have two dealers right next to me, but they have horrible service dept's (the sales aren't the best either for that matter).
