Second Thought after Ordering 2006 530!!!

I am a proud owner of a 99 E39 528i for past Seven years and the most part (other than $750 for ABS Control Unit) I have been very happy. Last week placed an order for a 2006 530, on May 30th, to be delivered in 8 weeks.

Reading more about E60 found that they do not have the shiny track record of E39s. What do you guys think/heard - Should I wait for 2007s ...

Many of the issues were in the 2004 models, the first year of production. The wildcard for you is that the 2006 530 has the new engine. I have not heard any complaints/issues about it, but it has only been out for a short while. I have had my 2004 545 for almost a year and a half now (12,000+ miles) and other than creaking door seals, which as I have read were a problem on the E39 as well, I have had no problems.

Glad to hear you're hanging onto your E39. I think they are some of the nicest cars on the road. It'll be a sad day for me when I finally part with mine.

and congrats on the new purchase. i think you are just having a cold feet. don't worry it happens to the best of us, well almost all of us. i think you'll experience the same even after you take delivery and find one little thing wrong with it, even if it really is wrong or not. btw, what color did you order? did you consider hte euro delivery option? i hear its pretty kickass!

e60s are just hot. i didn't like them at first, but now i really like it, they are sleek. and i'm actually glad i don't see too many of them floating around, it makes it classier imo.

e39 is a classic, and am glad to hear that you are holding on to her also.

I orderde the Titanium Silver, Sport+Premium Pkg, Satellite Radio, Folding Rear Seat, and Parking Distant Control. The only other thing I regret is that I decided, at the last moment, to go with Automatic transmission - Wife insisted! (my e39 is 5 speed, I irdered that one too back in 98)

I should have the car in Four to five weeks - and no, I did not get the European delivery, did not have time for it unfortunately. I have driven a lot around Germany and it is one of the best - specially down in the South, Bavaria and Alps.

Congratulations on ordering your new 530i. I ordered a 530i in March and have been driving it for several months. New engine is great! Haven't had a single issue or problem. Most of the issues were with the 2004 and have been addressed. I have only gone back to the dealer for some floor mats. You'll love the Sport Pkg. What a great ride! I am sure you will enjoy yours.

I picked up the car today - It looks great and I love driving it. I have not seen any of the problems people have reported with their 530s on this site, such as "... reflection of the head light switch green light on the driver side window ...". This car worths every penny ...
