Dumb question I know.
The car has an automatic changer with gears 1,2,3,N,P,R
How does one use the first 3 gears. Does one start off in 2 then move up to 3 & save 1 for step inclines & heavy loads? [???1] The car feels more comfortable when driven like this.
Is this what one calls semi-automatic.

naaa, thats a full automatic, i just replied to your other post saying don't dump the clutch, didn't realize you had an auto. i would recommend leaving your car in D

true - now I get you.

Use D for more or less everything. If you have a rotary selector on your centre console that has different options for snow, sport or normal driving, leave it in normal.

Use 3 for when you want the car to kick down a gear to pass on an incline without having to floor it, and use 3 and 2 for descending very steep inclines do the engine does some of the braking. 1 is really only good for special cases like when you are moving off when towing or on soft terrain.

Just go easy on the gas. Select drive, release handbrake and see if the car will move off on its own, if it does, then increase throttle as required.

If not, gently ease throttle to move off.

But if your having that much trouble, there is either something wrong with your gearbox, or you need to catch a bus to the DMV, hand in your license and learn to drive. Sorry if I sound lick a prick, but if your having that much trouble just moving off, it scares me to think what you're like once you actually get moving.
