Service Engine Soon Light

Just curious. I still have about 2-3k miles left on my service meter till my engine needs an oil change. I did it myself about 2 thousand miles ago, so I know the oil is ok. Why would my service engine light be on? It probably would be about a year since I last had it serviced.. hmm. Any ideas?

Have you left the gas cap off, or is it loose? This will cause to the light to come on?

Well that would be the check engine light. This is just the service engine light. I believe they are different.

Mine came on for no reason. Computer error they told me. They need to read the error message and reset if nothing is wrong. Mine started with the tire pressure monitor thing last summer and since then just about every dummy light has been hit. Go figure. Gee, do these computers get viruses??? LOL!!

You had me worried. The next day my TPM started going off constantly. Found out later that I have a slow leak in my driver rear tire. Yay.. But I get new tires this week, so I guess it's ok..

Glad to hear it wasn't anything serious. It still is kind of odd though that this happens.
