i just took delivery of my 06 330ci ZHP and the Service Engine Light came on one day and i looked it up in the book since it was a weekend and it said it might be from getting gas and something to do with the cap not being tight enough so the sensors catch fumes or something. I called the dealer they said the same thing and to wait. it did.now it came back and im on that same tank of gas. and i think the car is cranking a little bit longer than it should when i turn it on. something i think it might come from is the stupid locking system. there is 1 button in the whole car that unlocks the doors and it is the central locking system that locks/unlocks the trunk and gas cap as well. could this be causing the service engine light to come on maybe when i unlock the gas cap?. the manual says i have door lock buttons but i have yet to see one! anyone out there got an idea?!thanks

Your Central Locking System Shouldn't Turn On Your Check Engine Light. Nor Should Just Locking And Unlocking The Doors. Your Check Engine Light Is To Monitor The Driveability Systems Of The Engine And Transmission. You Long Cranking/starting Concern You Described Will More Than Likley Have More To Do With The Check Engine Light. Since Your Car Is Brand New, Gas Cap Concern Or Not, Sounds Like A Warranty Issiue That Your Dealer Needs To Address Asap! Of Course This Is Just My Opinion But Being A Service Manager My Self, That Is What My Customers Would Expect And Diserve, Especialy New Car Owners.

Good Luck
Andrew
