Shakes

Lately while driving around in 1st and 2nd gear ive experienced shaking at around 3k RPM or if i give it alot of gas and as it gets to the higher RPM's its gets worse and worse. Its a 1989 325iS, and its mainly in 2nd gear. It seems to be comming from the rear, not engine. Also i rotated my tires from front to back and it seemed to make it a little worse. Wondering if someone had any idea of what might be causing my car to shake. Thanks.

It's possible but I would inspect the things I mentioned first. I've looked at several e30s with the intention to buy and the diff fluid didn't make much of an impact is such things. Bad diff fluid would probably make kind of a grinding through all gears, at all speeds.

Bad differential fluid would really only be a noise at lower rpm's while turning. I think jon and justin are totally correct - it's what my e30 did till I replaced the csb and guibo.

what kind of replacement money and difficulty am i looking at for the drive shaft Bearing?
Do the guibo and center bearing all at once. You have to lower the exhaust as far as you can and remove the front half of the driveshaft. It's not easy if the stuff has been on there the past 15 years - but you're looking at $110 of parts and about 4 hours of work (if you've never done it before, let about 2 days...seriously)
