shaking vibrating...whatever

I have BMW 325 I
1989 v6 CYL.

2 days ago a shaking started under my hood..I don’t know how I can tell you..when the gear is on P there is no any vibration but when I shift the gear D or R the car starts shaking..I drove the car 10 or 15 miles it runs normal…
but when I stop , car starts to shake ..I know that this is not normal , because I remember , my car was not shaking like this , just 2 days ago.. what the problem can be?please help me..

I agree - a bad motor or transmission mount is the most likely cause of this since you say the engine is running normally.

Or worn clutch in your auto so that there is too much strain on the engine when in gear and not moving. May need to replace, or rebuild the auto. Take it to an automatic specialist - they will soon tell you if it ISN'T the auto.

This can also happen if the flex plate that joins the engine and transmission is cracked or broken. Uh, that is, assuming bimmers have a flex plate. I have seen this on other cars, never specifically looked at a bimmer though.

I had a similar prob. The fix was New motor mounts, new trany mount and a new flex plate. What a bitch!
