Shifting issues

I am considering buying a 2000 M roadster. I test drove the car and loved the handling and acceleration. I am concerned about one thing. I felt the shifter took more effort to change gears than I expected. The car has 33000 miles and looks to be in vary good condition. The gearbox has a much shorter throw than I’m used to and a shorter shift lever. Do I just have a case of car buyers jitters or could clutch wear, linkage adjustment, or transmission issues be involved? Any help would be welcome. I want to buy this car soon.
Thanks

Is it a certified pre-owned car? If not then you might want to get it checked out because the standerd shifter on the M Roadster is very easy to use and one of the best in my opinion, especially when it is broken into, the throws are short, smooth and easy.

The Mz3 is not a soft machine, The manual gear box needs some muscles and the motor will sound more aggresive than other cars...
with 33K miles, I wouldn't worry about that,,, unless you test drive another M and find out that it's softer...
