I placed the order on 7/29 to avoid the price increase that my sales guy told me was coming with no changes to the car. It has a production date of 8/26, but now I have heard of the changes due for Sept. - upgraded DSC and the start/stop and so forth. Some have said the plant closed early and that my order may come with the updates, and I'm having my sales guy check. But if it doesn't have them, should I cancel the order and get re-order one with the updates?

I ordered a 2006 525xi on July 30th and picked it up two weeks ago. I heard about the changes and price increase ($700 - it's now showing on BMW site) before I ordered - I assume their now in place. From what I understand the changes are very minor - the non key start for some is too out there - the verticals on the grill are to be silverplate and the I-Drive knob top will have leather instead of metal ( some said it got too hot - a bit silly). This is between the first 2 months of production of the 06 and those thereafter.
This is updates to a brand new model. For some reason, BMW decided to release the '06 5-Series for 1 month, and then make changes. They began trickling out in late July '05, so I placed an order late July for the brand new '06 model. But for some reason, BMW decided to add additional standard features beginning with all cars produced on Sept 1, 2005. I've heard of making options available at later times, but not std features. Essentially, they produced cars for 1-2 months that will have less std features than all other '06 5-Series. [thumbd]
