SI board question

I recently purchased an '88 325 that has been in storage for a couple of years. I took the SI panel out to replace the batteries and discovered there was some corrosion on the board and batteries themselves. Am I wasting my time trying to clean this thing up or should I buy one to replace it. I thought about spraying it down with some contact cleaner but I'm not mechanical enough to test all the circuitry.

They are easy to get and cost around $10 for two (which is how many you will need. They don't need to be Ni-cad as I have a circuit board with lithiums in it, but I would still go with the Ni-cad. You must make sure they have soldering tabs on the ends though, not like your typical batteries for your remote controls (for example). Get a "solder sucker" too... I fould this job to be a royal pain in my @$$. While you're in there, if you don't like your "service" LED's coming on all the time, just pull the little board out that they are all attached to.
