I just ordered an '04 530i and was wondering if anyone knew anything about the Sirius radio option. I read something in the news section, but was wondering if anyone out there has actually ordered it in their car, or has experienced using it...

I don't have the radio directly installed, but I did buy a Kenwood portable unit for my office. We were tired of hearing commercials. Anyway, since it's portable, I decided to get the car kit. I love it!!!!!!!! Talk about finding everything you need without the commercials. Hell, you can even listen to T.V. Don't need to keep switching stations when you go on long trips either.

Like I said, the sirius radio is pretty cool, but I only have the portable unit. How much does it cost to have it already installed into the car? I paid about $200 for the radio and the car kit. Let me know how much the option is.

My husband has it. I would easily rate it a must have. I have read 575 to 750 bucks for the hardware and then 2 hours labor for a retro. Ordered from the factory it is 595 and comes with the first year and activation free. Availability for both is Feb 04. Im getting mine as soon as the parts ship.

I've contacted the BMW dealership on the Sirius system and was given a price of $650 which includes and adapter which is retrofitted into my current radio, and 2 hours labor........I think it is a small price to pay for a little bit of Heaven :)

DanBerk- You are correct. If you have order the Navigation option you cannot get the Sirus option as a factory install. I contacted BMW and they said they are working on the issue and hope to have a retrofit solution available soon.

I have the Sirius and I love it. I hardly ever use the CD anymore. Only problem with the installation was it took them closer to 4 hours, it had to be wired quite extensively through the rear window, looks great- as long as you don't mind the small receiver on the roof.

You definite can't have the nav system with it as of 2003.
