BMW 5 series 1997 - 2003 model is a great car to drive, I rated as the world no 1 sports saloon driving machine. Like any other superb machine, it has some minor "so called defect" that may not be tolerable to all much depends on individual expectation. I am one of those drivers that require perfection in almost every aspect of the machine that I am driving.

The Problem
The door egde seal create a squeaking sound even the slightest flexes of the door as a result of the door rubber seal rubbing against the body. The temporary fix is by applying a silicone gel around the door seal. Some of the Bimmer owners even change the door edge seal (quite expensive) and the problem seem to appear after several weeks later.

Solution
SYSENEG, a company based in Asia discovered that the squeaking sound arising from the door rubber can be eliminated by designing a special synthetic rubber-like seal and positioning the installation of this special material at the right spot. This special high quality rubber-like seal specially cut to fit the 5 series door edge that is called "MFEX" will stick to the door edge preventing the door rubber to rub against the door edge surface of the body. The installation takes about 15 min per door. After you fix it, it will look as though that MFEX formed part of the door edge seal that is fixed to the body. No one will ever notice the add on synthetic rubber-like seal !

Zulk.

I do not believe the whole problem for the squeaking is in the door rubber seal.
Maybe, maybe not...?
But what many people are not aware of, is the door SILLS that's making the creaking noise when the door moves and rubs or press against them. I removed all 4 of mine, took all the chrome plates apart and applied a generous amount of silicone grease in between all moving parts and joints. Also greased the brackets where the clips slides in.

Try that...and you'll see a big difference! But of course, I still hear a little tiny rattling...here and there, although they are not the infamous E39 creaking anymore.

First, do a test ...open a door and lightly press/release repeatedly around the door sill. Try to simulate the bottom of the door seal vibrating against the door sill.
