I heard that you can actually beat the ticket if your speedo doesn't work. Call a lawyer or something and see what he says, it is always better to pay the lawyer than your insurance company.

If both the tach and speedo don't work, it's probably a problem in the cluster, not the differential sensor. Possibly bad SI batteries or bad solder joints. Do the temp gauge and fuel gauge work?

I took apart the guage cluster and found out the SI Batteries are solded to the battery clip thing. How do i replace those batteries without damaging anything. Help will be greatly appriciated. BTW my car is a 1988 BMW 325is. Thanks in advance

You have to unsolder the old ones and solder in new ones. However, if your speedo isn't working, replacing the SI batteries isn't going to fix it. The way I understand it, the speedo will continue to work even after the batteries crap out. Usually the temp guage and tach will start acting funky when the batteries go bad.

You would be better off creating a new thread asking how to put the steering wheel back on instead of editing this one and confusing everybody. I don't have an e30 and i never took the wheel off on mine so I can't really help except that you should see if something is pressing against something it is not supposed to be. A button or something like that, whatever activates the horn.
