where is the speed sensor? I know some cars it's at the output end of the tranny, but I'm pretty sure that's not the case here. so it must be on one of the wheels, right? is it that one wire going to my front left tire?

also...does anyone know the purpose for the two sensors on the bell housing? I assume one is for the flywheel (RPMs) and the other.......

[poke]

troubleshooting some sporadic tach and speedo behavior right now. eck.

Its on the diff.

Sensors on the bellhousing mean your car must be pre f/l as they moved them on the f/l cars.

One is the crank angle sensor. And from memory the other is an engine speed sensor. On the f/l the crank angle sensor is on the front of the block - there is a 60-2 toothed wheel on the front of the crank that it reads both sets of info from.

Pull the speedo sensor from the back diff plate (two small screws) and have a friend sit in the car, turn the speed sensor by hand to determine if it is the unit itself or the drive gear for the sensor.

what does 'f/l' mean?

also....any idea which one is the crank angle sensor, and which is the engine speed?

figured out the speedo problem............heinous amounts of rust!
one of the wires fell off while i was pulling it out!

I have also discovered that differential fluid smells like poop.
