I noticed that no where in the ad does it mention they are "DOT" approved and I do not believe they are therefore there could be legality problems. I am not a fan of reducing my light output by using a smoked cover. They do look cool though.

It could, I was involved in a case where a motorcycle rider ran into the back of a car who had stopped suddenly, seriously injurying the M/C rider. It was discovered that the car (a ricer) had placed smoked out tail lamps that did not illuminate to DOT standards due to the tint/smoke on the car. The MC rider discovered this and sued for damages winning medical bills, replacement MC and pain and suffering.

yeah, well i can get ones that are DOT spec and I shouldn't have a problem with 'em...it's just that they run around $600 bucks. South Carolina is pretty lax in it's car compliance laws. I've never known anyone to have a problem. (and I've known people who've run race exhausts with no Cats...they were also loud as hell.) But it'd be just my luck to be the one person busted for something. Also, I'm saying this in comparison to things I've heard about California and their strictness. (i.e. problems with ride height, headlight brightness, exhaust noise, exhaust fumes)
