I'd like to improve the appearance of the gasket around my sun roof on my '90 525i. The previous owner kept up with the waxing and interior, etc., but never did anything to remove / cover the wax streaks on the gasket. Any recommendations for treatments that will help the appearance without hurting the seal? Thanks!

I'm assuming you're referring to the rubber seal around the sun roof.
303 makes the rubber look great and adds UV protection. Our local auto parts store carries it and you can also get it online from places like Autogeek.net.

Thanks! It is the seal that I'm referring to - in my case it is less like rubber and more like a composite material (almost looks like braided fabric on the edges). It looks like 303 is carried by most Ace Hardware stores, so I'll check locally.

Vinyl-Rubber Care and Protectant (Tiefenpfleger)

Vinyl-Rubber Care and Protectant cleans, restores and protects all vinyl and plastic components such as fenders, the fascia, interior panels and rubber components and tires, producing a temperature-resistant seal and a satin finish. With strong UV protection. Solvent-free, water-based formula. Unlike the competition, Tiefen will not streak or come off with water. Therefore, UV and other protective properties remain. Durability tested for use in car wash systems. Patent pending.
