O M G !

please fill in the info gaps. i know nothing about designing a blown system and plan to do it down the road instead of engine swap and SC is the way i would go. Dude, that looks beautiful!!

What is the SC make and do you know all the specifics?!?

^ thats what it looks like...

the thing that says Blankenship on it (same name as one of my best engineering professors coincidentally) looks to connect the SC to the head after the TB... but i want fporro to explain it all.

I want fporro to explain how he's going to get his car to pass smog after he does the work.

thats the reason i got my title changed to joint my mother since she lives in BFE... smog is a waste of time so i make sure i get around it! HA

forget about smog, i doubt it would pass anyway.

I'm not sure how strict your smog tests are, but in PA for cars older than 1996 (with obd1) it's a visual test. As long as there are no holes, and everything is there.... they'll pass you.

It's 46 freakin dollars though!! Pepboys is 26, but there's no way I'm letting them touch my car.

C is for convertible.

Smog tests in CA are very strict. Every smog center has a machine hooked up up to DMV via phone line that is used to test each car. In order for you to get smogged they hook up your car to the machine and run a series of tests that measures the exhaust while the car is on rollers that let it simulate going down the road at about 25 mph. They also do a visual and even test your gas cap. I think it's fifty some dollars and if it fails you have to get it fixed and come back again. The retest is usually free.

That's why I'm curious about fporro's ability to get his car smogged after doing the mods he's talking about. He lives down the road from me and I'd love to do something similar but I don't think I could get it smogged afterwards.

I dont know what you would expect to hit but I dont think it would be near enough to start twisting the frame that bad, unless hes running 400+ hp i dont think its gonna be a problem :)

depends on the county. Allegheny (Pittsburgh) will hook you up to a machine.

Philadelphia is really strict. Different kind of machine and test.

just to clarify, this pics are not from my car, posted them for reference only.

S/C came of a Ford Thunderbird, 3.8 liters.

hi xLibelle,
wish i knew more but only found 2 websites so far.

http://www.splitsec.com/spike/BMW_E30_325i_Supercharged/spikeBMWE30325iSuper.htm

http://machschnell.com/body_superchargers.html

as i arrived at IE shop there was a club gathering, Jeff as well as others told me all about an article at Roundel or some other magazine. so we're looking at 75hp with stock internals and perhaps some more if i go with 524td crank for $ 300.

i like the old "hot rod" look with s/c sticking out of the hood :)
but as previous photos and this new ones, everyone seems to go with under hood set-up.
giving a choice i'll go all hot rod :~)

- Equate, i'll ask Jeff is if also doable on S14 engine., don't see why not :)

- EPJ3, bottom cover is removed from S/C and there's an adaptor plate that sits between head and S/C.

- Bichmgnt, smoged her a month ago, 5.0 injectors, big 6 maf, K&N cone filter, jc chip.
passed fine and didn't have to $$$ on the side.
would think that S/C it's not always on, so leaning engine for smog can be done, lower FPR, OEM chip, etc.
bad comes to worst, engine swaps are doable in a day :~) and one every 2 years is not that bad of a deal.

- BMW-FR26, "c" for cabrio = convertible, frame twisting, nah ;~), cabrios do the twist up front, rear is very stiff due to dual wall design between rear seats and cargo area.
already added an IE front stress bar so that's taken care of.
now vibration from 1,100 watts (2 x 12"s, 2 x 8"s and 4 x 5 1/4" xploids it's another story) :)

as Steve mentioned, CA smog is somewhat strict, i happen to run into a cool shop and she passed with flying colors, smoked taillights and all.

here's my 87 325ic, delphin metallic.

Yeah, I know you can do the s14 I have seen cars do it, but I was saying is it is a custom thing. There is only one kit I know of and they ask way to much for it, basically it comes doesn to getting custom pistons made and coming up with the $$$ for the s/c parts, vortech v2 should do the trick though

hey Steve,
never bothered to Dyno it but she feels very responsive at take off and stroger at WOT, mpg was not really affected ither. Butt Dyno sais yes :)

IE's or any others honed intakes are $ 500 and up, many rather port the head and add shorty headers for that price. i would do same and port match intake too and cam it too. all that adds to high end side of powerband and what i would like is low end torke.
