Surprising E-60 MPG

I guess my '03 530iA is broken in. It now has about 2500 miles on the
clock.

We took a 300mi. round trip yesterday & I was getting 29.7 mpg on the road
for a sustained period. Overall highway mileage on one 130 mile stint was
26.7 mpg.

This is a pleasant surprise. Before the break-in period, I was getting a
maximum of 23 mpg on the road & was seeing combined mileage on a tank of gas
at around 19mpg.

YAY!

Oops... that IS an E-39.

I was looking at E-60's for so long I'm still getting used to writing E-39 in reference to the car I finally bought.

My 04 530i is getting around 21 on the freeway, and it only has 497 miles on it, I am hoping to see better when the engine is broke in. Glad to hear that it inspires me. Either way, it's getting way better mileage than the SUV I just got rid of. : )

My '01 530i has been averaging 25 MPG in mostly highway use. I'm looking forward to a long trip to get a better idea of steady cruise-control mileage for a tank of gas.

Jewels husband here again. She actually got 22.3 combined city/highway. Thats using the calculator at fillup rather than taking the number off the computer.

Keep in mind that my mileage was exactly like jewel's until about 1500 mi.

My mpg is just fine, now.

My around-town average is about 23mpg, combined city/hwy.
