your Tach id problaby due to bad batteries on S.I. board. next will be temp gauge, speedo and fuel gauge.
easy to replace,

vacum gauge ???
The gauge that indicates the MPG that you are getting as you drive, it is right below the Tach, I was assuming it was a vacum gauge.

really sounds like bad batteries on S.I. board, don't wait too long as problaby one of them is leaking corrosive acid all over the actual S.I. board.

mpg / econo meter is run by s.i. board., all our gauges are.

Batteries

I have talked to a couple of german import mechanics and they say most people swap out the whole S.I board when the batteries go because the batteries are sodered
in place on the board, any truth to that recomandation ?

yes, batteries are welded in, whole refurbish boards go for $130 and up and you have to send your board in or ther's a $ 70 "core" charge.

i swaped my batteries, $ 10 at radio shack for the pair., you can iether buy a welder kit for $ 15 or bring it to your tv/crv repair guy and have him swap them for about $ 15 to 20.

remove it and tell me part number on board, i have about 30 of them and mey be able to find one with good batteries, say $ 45 including shipping within USA

my email fporro@msn.com

frank

Just to let you know the MPG guage is not vacuume. I thought it was too, but it's not...

Notice that when you're at 4,000 RPM in first it says 5 mpg, but when you are at 4,000 RPM in 5th, it says 20 - 25 mpg. Same vacuume.
