My 325i is going in for its MOT next month. My mechanic will have to do so welding on the chassis. and the rear suspension is going, with 150k miles the engine is perfect. i am going to ask him if it will last at least 2 more years. however i've been thinking about an E36 328i trouble is that the car (with around 80k) is gonna cost between £5000 and £8000 then theres the mods to put on to actually make it faster than the E30[;)] or i could get the chassis work done and replace the suspension with the sport setup. if i do that id upgrade to the 15" wheels (is there any setup differance between the 14" and 15") I really want to keep the car aa its still faster than most in the straights and (alought the suspension is shot at the moment) outhandles alot in the twisties as well! any comments or advice would be apprieciated.

I would stick with the E30, there is nothing wrong with an E36, i you want a luxury , sports in that order, but if you want a souped up go kart then stick with your E30 and fix the suspension , but I would go with 16" wheels, and maybe a M-Tech body kit cause that makes a world of difference to the way the car looks

i was thinking about upgrading to the e36 as well but south african dude is right, just keep the 325. also, do the 2 inch size up on the wheels. they will look and fit the car much better. there is no setup difference.

but while you are doing the rear suspension (with what, new swing arms?), you might as well find an e36 front end. you can drop the entire suspension and steering rack right out and replace it with a better one that will fit with minor adjustments. that would automatically upgrade the hubs to 5 lug, so get the e36 hubs for the rear too. your brakes would be upgraded as well.
it is a bit more of a chunk of change, but its probably the best next move you could go for.
ps, keep the engine, drive it into the ground if you need a real reason for that to be your next upgrade!

Yeah, and when u are finished riding your engine into the ground maybe the next M3 will be out then you can drop the E46 M3 Engine into your car, if that is too expensive, just drop the E36 325, or 328 engine into the car and it will go a bit faster and have more torque.
