I'm replacing old coolant hoses on my '87 325ic. Is it necessary to remove the intake manifold and/or throttle body to replace the hose that runs from the throttle body to the engine block by the starter (at the rear of the block)? Any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Reed

Geeze, I just stripped down an M20 on sunday.... I'm sure that removing the intake would help but it's a pain in the ass in itself. I'm sure you could reach it, maybe just taking the throttle body off would be the best thing to do. you'll proabably scrape you knuckles a few times on the block undoing the clamp, and I would suggest puting a hose clamp back on that has a hex head, because using a screw driver in that tight space would be a pain. It'll be easier to get a small socket with a ratchet on there.
