I have an 82 528e with a 5 speed. I noticed the day after the accident, that when the tranny is out of gear, and the vehicle is moving, i get a vibration through the stick. Almost like it's catching on a gear. It doesn't matter if the clutch is depressed or not. What does help is holding the shifter towards the driver side of the pattern while still out of gear, the vibration goes away. The shifter usually rests between 3rd and 4th gear. Another fact is that the vibration does vary with speed. Which leads me to believe that the accident (see below) could have something to do with it, but when you pull the shifter the the left, it goes away completely.

I do know that the clutch has been slipping for about a month, weither this could submit to the problem is unlikely to me.

And i was side swiped the other day, when someone tried to come into my lane and hit my rear passenger door. But i looked at my wheel and control arm and they look OK, but i still need to lift it off the ground and check for any unneccesary wobble.

I'm stumped, and its going into the body shop this week. Would like to get your advice, so if it was from the accident, i don't have to fit the bill.

sorry for the winded post.

Thanks
