Trans Leak Please Help

[BMW5MT]

I have what I think to be trans or oil present on the bottom of my transmission. Can someone tell me where should I look first to fix?

Fo you have a manual or an automatic transmission? Is the fluid red in color? Can you tell where the oil is coming from, it is rarely coming from the location you find it.

Does the oil smell like a skunk that fell out the ass of another skunk? Then its gear oil

I'm sorry it is a manual and the fluid is brown in color.

It must be oil then because it dosn't smell like gear (Skunk Ass)

Probably the rear main seal thats seeping -- is it at the front of the tranny, or the rear?

Yea it definitely looks like it could be from the rear main seal, but MORE than likely from a leaky oil pan gasket. That's not a terribly difficult fix.

I no.... I have to write that on the 4X4, if not my wife will throw it away. On the other side it says Jack for "jack block" crazy right?

Is it a 6 speed or an automatic?

Unfortunately the rear main seal requires removal of the transmission, clutch and flywheel!

It is typically easier to just add some oil now and then.
